FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. How should I arrange my resume?
That depends on the job to which you are applying, and the norms of your field. The basic chronological resume works best for many jobs, but for those people who are seeking a career change, a functional resume can be more effective. Communication-intensive jobs applicants can prove their skills with concise paragraphs describing their work experience, while for other jobs, a bullet-point style may be best. We will work with you to determine the best resume for your needs.

2. Do I need more than one resume?
You may! The days of lifetime employment are over. Americans today not only change jobs every five years on average, they often have to change careers more than once across the course of their working lives. Having two or three different resumes, all designed to show off your specific strengths, is a good way to increase the number of interviews you land, which means you'll get your new job that much more quickly.

3. What about cover letters?
Cover letters are crucial. A good cover letter demonstrates that an applicant has expertise in business communication norms and a command of the language, two vital attributes for any job.

4. I already have a resume; why do I need you to write one?
Your existing resume may be great. We can help you to improve it. While you don't need a pre-existing resume to start with, we're pleased to take the raw material you provide and create a vibrant, professional document that will open the door to a new job or career.
